This will require the ferocity of a wild shakal!
Shakal is a vehicle combat search-and-rescue game. Your primary mission is to find and rescue all of your captured brothers-in-arms, and transport them to an allied helipad for evac. Yup- get dem to da choppah. You must protect them from enemy patrols and dangerous terrain to get them home safe. Your secondary mission is to find the leaders responsible for this atrocity, and ensure they can't ever come after our forces again.
You will navigate a 3D physics-based world filled with enemy troops, turrets, armored vehicles, aircraft, ships, natural obstacles, land mines, lasers...
The playtest build includes (so far): title menu, intro screen, play/quit loop, player vehicle with rotating gun and upgradable main weapon, navigable terrain, obstacle items, enemy turrets that track your movement and fire in three round bursts, enemy infantry (kind of, visual placeholder for now, can aim and shoot but not move yet)
The playtest level now has animated water, trees and rocks and walls that block movement and weapons fire, a working bridge, a walled compound with a destructible gate, prisoner buildings in place (but not yet working), a rescue helipad with ground lights, and a final boss arena (boss coming soon)
Current projects include a more elaborate animated title menu with story slides, finished enemy infantry, enemy tanks and patrol boats, a working weapon upgrade/downgrade system, a pause menu that will display all player kill and rescue stats, and destroyable buildings with collectable POWs inside.
